Art Project Recipes for the Home and Classroom
Prehistoric times including caveman and dinosaurs are used her to teach kids about expressionism in art. Expressionism is an art style where form and color are distorted to express the artist's inner feelings and emotion. In this project students are encouraged to imagine that they are living in prehistoric times and how they would have felt to live in caves with wild beasts everywhere. Would they be afraid or exhilarated  to be living at one with nature, like the first hippies. They then are encouraged to distort and exaggerate the drawing and coloring of form to express these caveman emotions and feeling.
