The Art Teacher's Cook Book
Art Project Recipes for the Home and Classroom
I like to teach painting first with just black and white so students can concentrate less on color and more on composition and getting some control of the paint brush.
Students need to get the feeling for paint as a liquid color that is controlled by adding water mastering the paint brush.
I then have the students learn color mixing from the primaries, white and black.
I want them to make different shades of greens, oranges, purples, browns, etc and see color as fluid and easily changing through mixing more color to color..
